CHICKEN WINGS
2 lbs. chicken wings
1 lb. hot or sweet Italian sausage links, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 lg. onion, diced
1 med. red pepper, cut into thin strips
1 med. zucchini (8 oz.) chopped
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. orzo (rice-shaped pasta)
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. oregano leaves
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce (optional)
1 c. frozen peas

About 40 minutes before serving:

In an 8 quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook chicken wings and sausages until browned on all sides, about 15 minutes. With slotted spoon, remove chicken wings and sausages to large bowl.

In drippings remaining in Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook onion, red pepper, and zucchini until tender, stirring occasionally. Add tomatoes with their liquid, water, orzo, salt, oregano leaves, paprika, turmeric, hot pepper sauce, and browned chicken wings and sausages; over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 10 minutes.

Stir in frozen peas, heat through.

Makes 8 servings. About 500 calories per serving.
