ANGEL BISCUITS
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk, room temperature
2 tsp. granulated sugar
2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
Melted butter

Mix yeast with milk and sugar. Combine flour, soda, and salt. Cut shortening into dry mixture with pastry cutter. Add milk-yeast mixture and stir until ingredients are moist. Turn out on lightly floured surface. Knead 4-5 times, roll to about 1/2 inch thickness, and cut with floured 1 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Dip in melted butter and place on greased baking sheet. Let rise, covered, about an hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes or until nicely browned. Makes about 36.
