2 c. sifted self rising flour 1/3 c. butter flavor Crisco 1 1/2 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese 1 c. milk or buttermilk Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In large mixing bowl, cut Crisco into flour, using a fork or pastry cutter, until Crisco is fine and evenly distributed. Add cheese and stir well. Add milk all at once and stir into flour mixture with a fork. DO NOT KNEAD! Spoon out onto a heavily floured board and turn, (do not knead), several times until coated with flour. Flatten dough slightly and cut out biscuits, with open-ended biscuit cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 425 degrees for about 10 minutes or until biscuits begin to brown. |
