APPLE CHEESE CRISP 
4 apples
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. cheese

Peel, slice in eighths and core apples. Place in a shallow buttered baking pan. Pour water and lemon juice over apples. Mix sugar, cinnamon, flour, shortening, salt and cheese. Sprinkle over the apples. Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) until apples are tender and crust is crisp or about 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold with or without whipped cream.
