APPLESAUCE LOAF 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sweetened applesauce
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Gradually add sugar to softened shortening. Cream until light. Add eggs. Beat until fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce, beating after each addition. Stir in nuts. Pour into paper lined 9 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 2 3/4 inch loaf pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done. Cool in pan 10 minutes, remove. While still warm spread top and drizzle down sides with powdered sugar glaze.

GLAZE: Combine 1/2 cup sifted confectioners' sugar with 1 teaspoon milk and a few drops vanilla.
