OATMEAL RAISIN ROLLS | |
2 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 1 c. rolled oats 1 c. unprocessed wheat bran 1 c. raisins 2 pkgs. active dry yeast 1/2 tsp. salt 2 c. water 1/2 c. honey 1/4 c. butter 2 1/4 c. bread flour Stir together 1 cup of the whole wheat flour, the oats, bran, raisins, yeast and salt. In saucepan (or microwave), heat together water, honey and butter until lukewarm; add to flour mixture. Mix well. Stir in remaining whole wheat flour and then bread flour. Knead 8-10 minutes. Shape into ball. Place in greased bowl and let rise until double. (I let it rise in a cold oven, with a pan of warm water beside it.) Punch down; let rest 10 minutes. Shape into rolls and place in greased round cake and pie pans. Let rise again until nearly double. Bake at 350 degrees about 25 minutes. They freeze well in plastic bags. |
