AUNT VERONICA'S DATE TORTE 
6 egg whites
6 egg yolks
1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
1/2 lb. nuts, chopped
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. wheat bread crumbs

Beat egg whites until they form soft peaks. In separate bowl, beat egg yolks. Put dates in warm water to soften. Pour off water before adding nuts and beaten yolks. Add sugar gradually. Add crumbs, mix.

Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in tube pan at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Check with straw for doneness.
