1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk

Measure dry ingredients and put in bowl. Run a whisk through a little and add rest of ingredients. Beat well. Put into 2 (8") pans or 9"x13" greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Makes a very good coconut cake or spice, chocolate, orange. Makes good top part of Montgomery pie.
