ESTHER'S SWEET AND SOUR MEATLOAF | |
1 lb. ground beef/turkey/lamb (or combination) 1 small onion, chopped finely 3 garlic cloves, minced 1/2 cup bread crumbs 1/4 cup water 1 beaten egg freshly ground black pepper, to taste Preheat oven to 350°F. Sauté onions and garlic in butter until soft about 5 minutes. In a large bowl, combine bread crumbs and black pepper. Add the egg and water and blend. Add the cooked onions and garlic. Add the meat and combine until totally blended. Prepare the sauce. SAUCE: 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce garlic powder, to taste onion powder, to taste juice of 1/2 large lemon 1/4 cup brown sugar In a medium sized bowl add the tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, and brown sugar. Combine. Pour half of the sauce into the meat mixture. Place the meat in a loaf pan and bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes. At this point, pour the remaining sauce on top of the meat loaf and bake an additional 15 minutes. Makes 4 to 6 servings Submitted by: Clara |
