2 c. sugar
3/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. shortening
4 oz. bitter chocolate

Place all ingredients in pan. Mix well and cook until a small amount dropped in cold water will form a soft ball. Remove from heat an beat until thick enough to spread on cake. A teaspoon of vanilla will improve flavor.
