AMPLE APPLE CAKE 
3 1/2 c. tart apples, chopped
2 c. sugar
1 c. melted butter
2 eggs
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. each cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg & cloves
1 c. chopped walnuts

Cake is best when mixed by hand. Mix sugar with apples and let stand while sifting dry ingredients together. Stir a little dry ingredients into the chopped walnuts. Add melted butter to the sugar apple mixture, then beat in the eggs. Blend in dry ingredients and last the walnuts.

Turn batter into a well greased 9 inch tube pan and bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour. Let cool 5 minutes before removing from pan, then remove to cake plate and cool to lukewarm. Apply glaze.

GLAZE:

Beat together 1 stick melted butter, 2 tablespoons hot water and 1 1/2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar and then spread on warm cake.
