RAISIN DROP COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts (opt.)

Boil raisins with enough water to cover, until plump; drain then let cool. Add to above mixture of sugar, shortening and eggs. Add rest of ingredients, mixing well. Drop from teaspoon 2" apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. NOTE: I use 1 1/4 cups white sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar. NOTE: Mix well, then add vanilla. Also raisins and nuts; mix well.
