ICE BOX COOKIES | |
3 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 1 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup (1 stick) shortening (I use Crisco's butter variety) 2 large eggs 1 tsp. baking soda combined with 2 tbsp. warm water 1 tsp. vanilla Slowly mix all the listed ingredients together. Roll it so that it will be about an inch to 2 inches thick and maybe a foot in length. The dough then must be wrapped in wax paper and frozen for 24 hours. THEN - Slice it up and bake the cookies at 350°F on an ungreased aluminum cookie sheet for 10 to 12 minutes. Allow the ice box cookies to cool at least 10 to 15 minutes before you remove them from your cookie sheet. Submitted by: South Dakota's Cookie Monster |
