APPLE DUMPLINGS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. shortening
Enough milk for a soft dough

Mix and roll out dough. Make 4 squares. Place a peeled, cored apple on each square. Fill center of apple with sugar, cinnamon, and butter. Fold dough over apples and place in a greased 9 inch pan.

SYRUP:

1 c. sugar
2 c. water
4 tsp. butter

Bring to boil for 5 minutes. Pour over dumplings and bake at 325 degrees until brown.
