APPLE DUMPLINGS 
Dough:

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk

Syrup:

2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. water

To make syrup, mix ingredients and cook for 5 mins. Mix dough ingredients as for pie crust. Peel and core 6-8 apples, (Northern Spy or Cortland apples). Roll our dough on floured surface and cut about 4 inch or larger circle, enough to fit around apple. Place apple in and pinch shut.

Bake at 350°F for 10-15 mins. Remove from oven and pour syrup over dumplings. Return to oven 30-35 mins. until apples is tender when fork is inserted.
