BROCCOLI - CHEESE CASSEROLE | |
10 oz. broccoli, chopped 10 slices bread (white or wheat) 2 tbsp. butter 3 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese 6 eggs 3 1/2 c. milk 1/2 tsp. basil leaves 1/8 tsp. pepper Cook broccoli; set aside. Trim crusts of 8 slices bread; make into rings. Cube remaining pieces of bread and crust. In bowl mix cubes, cheese, broccoli, butter. Make layer in bottom of bowl. Place bread rings on top, overlapping slightly on top. In separate bowl, with wire whisk, beat eggs; add milk, basil, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Pour over fondue. Cover, set aside 1/2 hour. Bake at 350 degrees on lower shelf, uncovered, 60-65 minutes or until fondue is puffed and lightly browned. Serve immediately. Makes 8 servings. |
