JEWISH APPLE CAKE | |
6 apples, peeled and sliced 4 tsp. cinnamon 10 tsp. sugar 4 eggs 2 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. orange juice 1/2 c. salad oil 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3 c. sifted flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt Mix cinnamon and sugar in a brown bag. Put sliced apples in bag and shake so that each slice is coated. Set aside. Beat together eggs and sugar. Mix orange juice and salad oil and beat together with vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to egg and sugar mixture along with orange juice and oil. Do not overbeat. Grease and flour tube pan. Put thin layer of batter then a layer of apples and continue ending with apples on top. Bake 1 hour 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool in pan 15 to 20 minutes. |
