Divide in two parts:

2 tbsp. red color sugar
2 tbsp. green color sugar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Sift together:

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream together:

3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter

Add:

1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Add all dry ingredients. LAST add colored sugar and nutmeg. Roll into balls - sprinkle remaining colored sugar and nutmeg on each cookie. Bake at 400 degrees 10-12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.
