MOLASSES TAFFY 
Two cups molasses, 1 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup water, 4 tablespoonfuls butter, 1/8 teaspoonful soda, 1/2 teaspoonful vanilla. Cook molasses, sugar and water slowly to hard ball stage or 260 degrees, stirring during the latter part of the cooking to prevent burning. Remove from fire, add butter, soda and vanilla; stir enough to mix. Pour into a greased pan and when cool enough to handle, pull into long strip and cut into small pieces.
