NEW MEXICAN GREEN CHILE CON
CARNE
 
3 lbs. hamburger meat (extra lean)
1 sm. onion
8 to 10 lg. green chilies, roasted and peeled (may substitute canned chilies)
8 fresh green onions (including tops)
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. bacon drippings
3 lg. tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. seasoned salt
1 chicken bouillon cube, dissolved in 1/2 c. water
4 green jalapeno peppers
4 c. water

Brown and drain hamburger meat in large skillet. Dice green chilies, jalapenos, onion, green onions, and tops. Add to meat in skillet along with Worcestershire sauce and bacon drippings. Over high heat, cook for 2 minutes. Transfer to medium size crock pot and add remainder of ingredients. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for 1 hour, adding water as needed to maintain soup-like consistency. Makes 6 to 8 large servings.
