MERINGUE SHELL FOR CAPPUCCINO
TORTE
 
3 egg whites
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. sugar

In small mixing bowl, let egg whites stand at room temperature for 1 hour. Cover a baking sheet with plain brown paper or foil. Draw a 9 inch circle. Add vanilla and cream of tartar to egg whites. Beat until soft peaks. Add 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time until stiff. Spread into circle, building up sides to make shell. Bake in 300 degree for 50 minutes. Turn off oven and let dry in oven for 1 hour (don't open door).
