MERINGUE TORTE 
1 1/2 c. very finely rolled Saltines
2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
2 tsp. baking powder
6 egg whites, beaten until stiff but not dry
2 c. sugar

Mix together first 3 ingredients. In another bowl, beat egg whites. Add sugar a tablespoon at a time, beating after each addition. Fold in cracker mixture. Spread in a greased and floured 9 inch cake pan. (removeable bottom best). Have mixture slightly rounded in center. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes. Remove from pans and garnish with whipped cream and strawberries.
