FEATHER - LIGHT ROLLS | |
1 qt. milk, less 1/4 c. 1 c. shortening 2/3 c. sugar 1/4 c. warm water 1 pkg. dry yeast 1 qt. flour 1 tbsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1 qt. flour Put milk, shortening, sugar in sauce pan and bring to boil. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Work yeast and 1 quart flour into milk mixture. Let rise 2 hours. Work in remaining ingredients. Shape rolls as desired, brush with melted butter and let rise 2 hours. Bake in 425 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes. This dough will keep in the refrigerator for several days or the rolls can be partially baked and frozen. Makes 4 to 5 dozen. |
