DARK OATMEAL BREAD 
4 c. boiling water
2 c. quick oatmeal
1/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. molasses
1/4 c. shortening
2 tsp. salt
2 pkgs. dry yeast
About 12 c. flour

Pour hot water over oatmeal, sugar, shortening, salt and molasses.

While cooling soak yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water with 1 teaspoon sugar. When mixture is cool add yeast then flour until quite stiff. Let rise 1 hour, punch down. Let rise again 1 1/2 hours or until double in size. Makes 4 loaves. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
