1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1 c. dark molasses
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream butter, add sugar and cream well. Add beaten eggs, molasses, flour mixed and sifted with soda and spices, alternately with sour cream and the cream of tartar. Add enough more flour to make a soft dough. Chill.
