2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine flour, salt and soda. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy. Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing well after each addition.

Shape into 1 inch balls and place two inches apart on cookie sheet. With thumb, make a depression in center of each cookie. Place scant teaspoon of topping in center of depression on each cookie and bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

TOPPING:

Combine 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar and 1/4 cup sour cream. Mix.
