CREAMY HAM CASSEROLE | |
1 med. head cauliflower 2 c. cooked ham, cubed 1 (3 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained 4 tbsp. butter 1 c. milk 1 c. (4 oz.) cubed Sharp cheese 1 c. soft bread crumbs (1 1/2 slices) 1 tbsp. butter, melted 1/3 c. flour 1/2 c. sour cream Break cauliflower into buds (4 cups). Cook covered in boiling salted water until tender, (10 to 12 minutes). Drain, combine ham, cauliflower and mushrooms. SAUCE: In medium saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons butter. Stir in flour, add milk all at once. Cook and stir until mixture thickens and bubbles. Add sour cream and cheese and stir until it melts. Combine with ham mixture, put into 2-quart casserole, combine bread crumbs with 1 tablespoon melted butter. Sprinkle on top, bake uncovered 40 minutes. Serves 6 generously. |
