1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts, can add more
2 c. applesauce
4 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 box of currants
1 jar candied fruit

Mix applesauce and baking soda together. Let stand. Sift flour and spices. Add

sugar and shortening to flour mixture. Mix well. Add fruit to mixture. Pour into tube pan.

Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or more.
