DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
Make icing first.

DEVIL'S FOOD ICING:

1/4 c. cocoa
2 c. sugar
2/3 c. milk
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil for 2 minutes and set aside to cool.

DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE:

2 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. boiling water
