DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
1 c. boiling coffee
2/3 c. cocoa
1 heaping tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
2/3 c. butter
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Pour the boiling coffee over the cocoa and baking soda in a large bowl. Let cool to lukewarm. Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs. Beat well. Add cooled cocoa mixture. Add flour and buttermilk alternately. Stir in vanilla.

Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan for 35 minutes at 350°F.

Brown Sugar Frosting:

1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. warm milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil the first 3 ingredients to soft ball. Let cool. Beat together the butter, powdered sugar, warm milk and vanilla. Pour brown sugar mixture over powdered sugar mixture; beat until smooth.
