APPLE DUMPLING SAUCE 
1 pt. milk
8 oz. sugar
1/2 oz. cornstarch
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt

Bring milk to a boil. Remove from heat. Add mixture of sugar, salt, cornstarch and egg. Stir with wire whip until well blended. Return to heat. Cook until boiling. Boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla.

Serve warm over warm apple dumplings.
