ENOUGH TO FEED AN ARMY BREAD
4 c. water
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco shortening
1 tbsp. salt
4 eggs
3 pkgs. (oz.) quick rise yeast
5 lbs. Better for Breads sack flour

In large saucepan, heat water and sugar to boiling. Remove from heat and add Crisco and salt. Let cool 15-30 minutes. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm-hot water. Add to beaten eggs and then add heated mixture and stir. Stir in flour gradually (with bread hooks and beater is great) until you cannot stir any more. Then knead in the rest of the flour by hand until smooth and elastic. Cover in greased bowl and let rise (1 1/2 hours). Knead 5-10 minutes, cover and let stand (45 minutes). Knead 1 minute to remove air and shape into rolls and let rise. Bake at 400 degrees until brown. Remove and butter tops. Makes about 5-6 dozen rolls.
