GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE 
Chocolate Cake:

1 4 oz pkg Bakers German Sweet Chocolate
1 c butter
4 egg yolks, unbeaten
2 1/2 c cake or unbleached flour
1 t baking soda
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
1/2 c boiling water
2 c sugar
1 t vanilla
1/2 t salt
1 c buttermilk

Melt chocolate in water and cool. Cream together butter and sugar, add yolks one at a time, add chocolate and vanilla. Blend well. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to batter alternately with buttermilk, adding dry ingredients last. Beat well and fold in whites. Pour into three greased and floured cake pans, bake at 350 F for 35-40 minutes.

Frosting:

1 c evaporated milk
3 egg yolks
1 t vanilla
1 1/3 c pecans, chopped
1 c sugar
1/2 c butter
1 1/3 c coconut

Combine evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter and vanilla. Cook till thick, then add coconut and pecans. Beat well and spread between and on top of cake layers.

Cool completely.
