WALNUT BARS 
CRUST:

3/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. flour

Mix and press in pan. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Mix the following ingredients: 1 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped walnuts

Spread on hot crust. Bake for 20 minutes more. Cut into bars while still warm.
