1/2 lb. butter 1/2 c. shortening 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 3 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 c. milk 2 tsp. vanilla Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa. Add in order and bake at 325 degrees for 80 minutes in large tube pan. CARAMEL ICING: 1/2 c. butter 1/4 c. milk 1 c. brown sugar firmly packed Melt butter; add brown sugar and cook over low heat for 2 minutes. Add milk and let come to a boil over low heat. Cool. Add powdered sugar to spread. |
