SKILLET MAPLE APPLES
1/4 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 c. (1 pt.) half & half
1/4 c. pure maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
3 med. tart apples, cored, cut in half crosswise

In 10 inch skillet, melt butter; stir in sugar and cornstarch. Stir in remaining ingredients EXCEPT apples. Cook over medium low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (6 to 8 minutes). Place apples, cut side down, in cream mixture. Cover, continue cooking, spooning sauce over apples occasionally, until apples are fork tender (12 to 15 minutes). Remove apples to individual dessert dishes. With wire whisk, whisk sauce until smooth. Serve sauce over apple halves. Serves 6.
