This sounds like the goulash my mother used to make. I waited too long to ask her how she made it. Since she was getting a bit senile, she stated, "I never made goulash". I thought maybe my memory was off, so I checked with my sister. She confirmed mom made it, and we kind of guessed at the ingredients. Gonna try this recipe for sure!

Excellent dish! But to mix it up we took out the green peppers added corn and green beans in the mix and it is delightful! Also cooked the macaroni a little before adding it in. Goes great over corn bread :)

OMG! I have not made this recipe but it is the same that I grew up with. My mom fixed this same recipe back in the 60's/70's. I love it! Can't believe I found it. YEA PPL, this is a must. I give it 5 stars.

Very quick and easy dish to fix. Close to the old one I have had in our family for years. I added 1/2 cup of picante sauce. Just added a bit of a kick to the dish....

I have been searching for a goulash recipe that was like the one my mom always made growing up in the 70's. I don't recall her using tomato juice though - I thought she used tomato sauce and some tomato paste??? Also, she would get a platter, make a ring of elbow macaroni and put the goulash in the center! Oh and celery, she always used celery. Can't wait to try this! Sure wish she was still here for me to ask :(

This is amazing! I added a ton of different spices though, the amount was based solely on the scent, so I can't really give details. Made it for dinner for my mom since she was working late and I even impressed her!
