I usually add a little sugar to cut all the acid from the tomatoes.

EXCELLENT. Like others - I put my own twist. V-8 spicy juice, 1 minced garlic clove, dash A-1, little smoked paprika... This is outstanding. As another reviewer said - "great over cornbread". Please - submit any other great recipes you have laying around.

This recipe takes us back to childhood, a great place to be. Husband specifically asks for this dish at least once a month. Great recipe, easy to make, easier to eat :-) Thank you!!!

I'm using this as a guideline for mine this coming weekend. My mother in law made something similar but used V8 juice and added peas and carrots. I'm hoping it tastes the same because I haven't had it in years. She passed away and I never got the recipe..

Seriously, if you're a cook, you don't need a recipe to make Goulash or American Chop Suey. Nor do you need a recipe to make meatloaf, beef stew, shepherd's pie, meatballs, roast turkey or chicken, baked or broiled fish, or any other simple foods or soups. If you do indeed need to follow someone's recipe for any of these, then you're not a cook. You're simply a food preparer.

You established your personal score of ignorance by those 4 lines that you addressed to the general population.
We all know your doing your very best and it shows.

That was easy! Started it before the game... It was ready by halftime. Added 1 carrot and 1 celery just because I had it and to mess with the kids ;)

Very good recipe, quick and easy. I think I will cut back on the meat portion next time but that is just for cutting calories on meal. I did add some extra herbs to boost flavor but, again, this is personal preference. Thanks for the recipe!

I use italian tomato sauce instead of tomato juice. It is richer.

Sooo good. It brings back memories of my childhood and Mom's good cooking. Only differences are she added a can of mushrooms and chopped celery to hers. I had totally forgotten about this simple but great recipe. Using venison makes it a much healthier recipe too.

I have made this many times with the exception of adding one or two dashes (to taste) of Worcestershire Sauce.
