THE OLD ONE, TWO THREE AND A DOZEN | |
1 c. Crisco 2 c. water 3 c. sifted flour Dozen eggs Bring Crisco and water to a roaring boil and mix in flour, stirring until a paste forms. Remove from heat and slowly add eggs, while creaming with paddle, until the result is a soft-sticky dough. Heat oven to 450-500 degrees. Very light grease pan with Crisco. Add 1/3 scoops of dough mix onto cookie sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes. Let cool and fill. VANILLA CUSTARD FILLING: 1 qt. milk 3/4 c. sugar 8 eggs 1 tbsp. vanilla Pinch of salt Boil milk, sugar, and salt, then add eggs to boiling mixture, stirring until it thickness. Remove, let cool, put in pastry bag and fill them. FRENCH CURLERS: For all you Continental Body Builders. Let above dough mix cool, put in pastry bag and squeeze rings onto individual pieces on wax paper. Toss wax paper and pastry into deep fry at 350 degrees. Wax paper floats away and volah - add your favorite icing and curl a few. |
