“BUTTERNUT SQUASH” IS IN:

BUTTERNUT SQUASH 
1 butternut squash
salt
brown sugar (optional)

Cut 1 butternut squash in half (there is no need to peel). Sprinkle salt and brown sugar onto the squash.

Be sure the oven is preheated to 350°F before placing in oven.

Bake squash until soft; then simply scoop the squash out of the skin, add a little butter and serve!

Being an "elder" I was glad when Microwaves came out. For many years I had to figure 45 Min/oven, upside down with a little water and planned the meat, etc around that. Now I micro it for 8 to 10 minutes with a little water in a plastic bag, remove, add butter and salt. Hubby likes it sweet so I put brown sugar and marshmallow cream on his. Yummy.

if you microwave the two halves for about 5 min it cuts the cook time in oven in half!! I added pepper too.. yum!

For faster cooking: place butternut upside down in glass dish with about 1-2 inches of water. Microwave 8 minutes. Drain water, place butter and brown sugar in center, micro another 3 minutes. Scoop and serve!
