2 c. brown sugar
2 c. hot water
2 tsp. Crisco
1 box raisins
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. hot water

Mix brown sugar, hot water, Crisco, raisins, salt, cinnamon and cloves together. Boil for 5 minutes after mixture begins to bubble. Set mixture aside to cool completely. When mixture has cooled, add remaining ingredients. Let the soda dissolve in the 2 teaspoons hot water. Put mixture in a greased tube pan and bake at 350 degrees until done.
