1 c. raisins
2 c. water
1/4 c. Crisco
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves

Boil this mixture for about 10 minutes; then add:

1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix this batter and pour into a square baking pan or it will make 12 to 16 cupcakes. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
