GRANDMOTHER'S SCALLOPED POTATOES 
6 med. potatoes, uncooked, sliced in 1/8 inch slices
1 med. onion, diced
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

Place alternating layers of sliced potatoes and onions in a greased 1 1/2 quart shallow casserole dish. Combine the salt, pepper, milk, butter and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat until smooth and slightly thickened. Pour over potatoes and onions. Bake covered in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 1/4 hours. When potatoes are removed from oven, sprinkle cheese on top. Serves 6-8.
