RAILROAD PIE 
1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion
1 (12 oz.) can whole kernel corn, drained
1 can tomato soup
1 soup can of water
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. chili powder
1/2 c. bell pepper, chopped
Dash of black pepper

Brown beef and onion in a skillet. Pour off excess fat. Add the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Turn into a large greased casserole (1 1/2 quart).

CORN BREAD TOPPING:

3/4 c. plain corn meal
3/4 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. bacon drippings

Mix dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, egg, and bacon drippings; blend well. Pour over meat mixture. Bake, uncovered, in 350 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until topping is done and brown crusted. Scrumptious!
