1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream shortening and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Sift soda, salt, flour and cream of tartar together. Mix thoroughly and roll into small balls. Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon. Roll balls in mixture. Place on cookie sheet. Bake 12 minutes at 400 degrees. Yield 4 dozen.
