CARAMEL CAKE | |
3 c. sugar 1 c. butter 3 c. cake flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda 6 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 pt. sour cream ICING: 1/2 pt. whipping cream 2 c. sugar 6 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla Cake: Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Sift soda, salt and flour. Add eggs and flour mixture alternating. Beat well between each. Add sour cream and vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees until done. Cool before frosting. Icing: Mix 1 1/3 cups butter and cream. Boil and remove from heat. Brown 2/3 cup sugar in cast iron skillet. Add to other sugar mixture. Cook to soft ball stage. Add butter and vanilla. Beat until cool. Frost cake. |
