LENTIL LOAF 
1 1/2 c. lentils
2 1/2 c. water or broth (beef or vegetable)
2 onions, chopped
1/4 c. oil
1 egg (optional)
2 c. cooked rice
1 tsp. garlic powder or 2 tsp. fresh minced garlic
1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 c. catsup or barbecue sauce
1 tsp. sage
1/2 tsp. marjoram

Cook lentils in water until tender. Sauté onion in oil (for extra flavor, add a teaspoon of butter for browning).

Mash cooked lentils and add onions. Combine remaining ingredients to lentils. Press into oiled loaf pan. Spread catsup or barbecue sauce on top.

Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.

Perhaps the creator was trying to make this a vegan recipe; but it falls apart without adding an egg. Otherwise it is passable as a vegetarian meatloaf type dish.
