OLD FASHIONED STIRRED CUSTARD 
2 eggs
1/2 c plus 2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. all purpose flour
3 c. milk, scalded
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Beat eggs until frothy. Add sugar and flour beating until thick. Gradually stir about 1 cup milk into egg mixture; add to remaining milk, stirring constantly. Pour into top of double boiler; bring water to a boil; reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes or until thickened. Stir in vanilla; serve warm or cold. Yield: 3 1/2 cups.
