SUKIYAKI 
1 1/2 lb. steak, cut in thin strips
2 tbsp. salad oil
1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. water
2 med. onions, sliced
1 green pepper, sliced in thin strips
1 c. of 1 1/2 inch strips of celery
1 can bamboo shoots, sliced thin
1 can mushrooms, sliced thin
1 bunch green onions, cut in 1 inch lengths, including green tops

Heat oil in skillet, add meat and brown lightly. Mix sugar, soy sauce and water. Cook half of this with the meat. Push meat to one side of pan and add sliced onions, green pepper, and celery. Cook a few minutes, add remaining soy sauce mixture, bamboo shoots and mushrooms. Cook 3-5 minutes. Add green onions. Cook 1 minute more, then add 1/2 cup of rice wine, if desired. Cook 1 minute. Stir well and serve immediately over hot rice. Serves 8.
