3 tbsp. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
8 tbsp. cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 2/3 c. boiling water
1/2 c. nuts
confectioners sugar
whipping cream (optional)

Mix flour, 3 Tbsp. cocoa and 1/2 tsp. salt (set aside).

In a bowl mix 1/2 c. sugar,3 Tbsp. melted butter and vanilla. Beat flour and milk, alternately in the bowl. In a shallow, 1 1/2 quart baking dish, mix the rest of the cocoa, sugar and salt with 1 2/3 c. boiling water. Drop batter by the spoonful into the hot mixture.

Bake 350°F 45 minutes. Sprinkle top with powdered sugar. Serve warm with whipped cream.
